Head badges continued

Some of you know that I collect bicycle head badges, the small maker's emblems that used to be attached to the head tubes of just about every bicycle. This short YouTube video I made shows some fun ones you might like to see. I now have about 600 different badges in my collection and a lot of them are shown on my site. That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. I met a collector in Chicago who has over 2,000!

Is there any good way to display them? Any recommendation for a newbie in terms of researching rare and unusual badges?

Yes! There are almost as many ways to display them as there are different types of head badges. I've seen small glass cases with the badges lined up on each shelf, recycled watch display cases from department stores where each head badge was resting on the supports that were made for the watches and I've made displays comprised of rows of foam pipe insulation with the badges pinned to the foam insulation. I can explain in more detail if you provide an email address. I could include some photos, or follow the links to my collection where you can sort of make out my foam pipe insulation approach in my display. And, collecting head badges is just like collecting anything else, I would recommend collecting the ones that you like and not worrying to much about whether they are rare and unusual. There are thousands and thousands of different badges and it's really about what you like. Have fun!
